GammillWe set up our computerised longarm quilting service back in December 2006. Our Gammill Statler Stitcher quickly became an integral part of The Quilt Room we can’t imagine life without it now! We moved warehouses in April last year and it proudly resides in our brand new purpose built studio which is situated just behind the new premises of The Quilt Room.

It is run by our friendly team Nicky, Chris and Ileana and we are more than happy to answer any queries that you may have or we can post you one of our information leaflets. Alternatively browse the information on the blog pages and on our website.

~ How it all began… Back in October 2006 Pam and Nicky attended Quilt Market in Houston and got drawn into the Gammill booth. The longarm quilting side of business had always in the past been an intriguing and tempting thought. After chatting to the people there who were so helpful and after having a go our Gammill Statler Stitcher was ordered.

Our Gammill is like that of a hand guided model but is computerised and runs through a software program, Statler Stitcher, invented by Paul Statler. It basically means that we program into the computer the pattern, size, repetitions, stitches per inch etc and the computer guides the Gammill head. As it’s computerised it means that it is much faster and more efficient which enables us to turn around quilts in a much quicker time frame.

We took delivery of it in early December 2006 and Paul and Mildred Statler flew from the States to train us. It was a very daunting prospect and we were a little nervous. However, the nerves soon went and we now have built up a very successful client list. It has allowed us to make so many more shop samples and without it there is no way we would have reached our deadlines for our books.
