We have moved!
After a very hectic week we have finally moved into our lovely new premises at 37/39 High Street, Dorking. But, what a week it has been and I have to say a huge thank you to all our staff who helped us tirelessly not only at the shop but also helping us out at Ardingly show. All the effort has paid off and our shop opened smoothly on Monday and we have our Grand Opening this Wednesday, 3rd February with 10% off all stock, sale fabrics and lots of delicious nibbles to keep your energies up!
It is a very old shop with many quirky features that really lends itself to patchwork and quilting. The shop many years ago used to be The Wheatsheaf Inn and the original windows and bar doors are still in place! For those who know Dorking, the town is riddled with a network of caves and our shop has it's very own cave system down in our cellar. One of the caves used to extend to The White Horse further up the High Street where people used to smuggle alcohol.
On Monday, we held our first Strip Club and Block of The Month in our new workshop area located in our studio set behind the shop. You can just about catch a glimpse of our Longarm Quilting machine set behind the partition, so if you do visit us at the shop or if you're on a workshop feel free to pop your head round and say hello to Chris and Ileana or Hilary and Jean upstairs.
And just to tempt you even more we are expecting deliveries of Japanese Taupes, Kaffe Fasset, Mary Rose (Quilt Gate) and new Moda all in the next month or so. ALSO WATCH THIS SPACE as we are in the midst of putting up on the blog a FREE Block of The Month style Sampler Quilt all made with just one Jelly Roll. If you want sneak previews we have the quilts already made up and on display in the shop! If of course you can't wait for the FREE block each month we have complete patterns printed for sale in our shop and soon to be online.
After a whirlwind of a week, I think we deserve a rather large G&T but in the meantime we look forward to welcoming you all to our new shop and hope you love it as much as we all do.
