Festival of Quilts 2012
We have just come back from the brilliant Festival of Quilts 2012. What a great show! We were very lucky this year as we also had an exhibition showcasing all the quilts from our NEW book Antique to Heirloom Jelly Roll Quilts. The concept our our book, Antique to Heirloom Jelly Roll Quilts was to take inspiration from our collection of antique quilts (these were the quilts pinned flat) and then create our own modern day jelly roll heirloom versions. It was hard work setting up the exhibition – those walls are tougher than they look and Annie and Natalie who helped set up were absolutely exhausted by the end of it. However, it was well worth it and was so lovely to be able to share these quilts with everyone over the few days.
Below was our stand. We had a nice big demo space at the front where we demonstrated the two Creative Grids rulers (2 Peaks in 1 ruler and the Double-Strip Kaleidoscope ruler) that go alongside our two new pattern books ……and demo we certainly did! One of us was almost always demonstrating and I think both our voices were a little hoarse by the end of the show.
We didn’t get much chance to walk around the show but we did spot this pictured below. It was on the Janome stand and they are had made these wonderful baskets from our High Fashion pattern in our book More Layer Cake, Jelly Roll and Charm Quilts. This was just one of the baskets – they looked absolutely great and really showcased their sewing machines!
It is fair to say that by the end of the show were were happy but oh so tired. We all slept well that night! Usually the Festival of Quilts earmarks the last show of the year for us but not this year! Oh no, we have decided to do three more shows so October and November are going to be a busy months. We will be at the Autumn Quilt Festivals at Kent on the 18th-20th October, Malvern 26th-28th October and lastly at Duxford on the 2nd – 4th November. You can buy tickets and find our further information by visiting Grosvenor Exhibitions.
