Err….whose bright idea was it to do three shows in three weeks?! Actually, its a lot of fun – yes, a little exhausting but what a wonderful way to spend three weeks meeting and chatting to like minded people and all the time surrounded by what we love – fabric! The first show was the Quilt Festival in Kent. This was the debut show for this venue and what a lovely venue and so easy to get to. We have a feeling that this show will become a firm favourite in the diary to attend in the forthcoming years. We were situated in a great little corner and made some lovely new friends – Patchwork Prints run by Gillian James who combines her two passions – photography and quilting so do check out her website. We were also nearby the fabric marbling stand – fascinating and totally inspiring. We of course bought a marbling pack so are going to have a dabble! We also met a lovely lady, Jane Etherton, who had made our Basket Sampler quilt from our Jelly Roll Sampler book. She made her quilt using a 1930’s jelly roll and doesn’t it look fab! Jane had her quilt longarm quilted in a lovely 1930’s flower quilting design. Basket Sampler Quilt Last week we were at Malvern show – we hadn’t seen it since the renovation and new hall as last year the show coincided with one of the US shows and wow – what a difference a bit of paint, new lighting and flooring makes. It feels so much lighter and spacious. We always enjoy Malvern – possibly due to the gorgeous setting at the bottom of the Malvern hills. When we attend shows we always have a clear objective of what we want to show our customers and we always try and keep things new and fresh so there is always something different. For these shows we have introduced our new quilts made using just one Dessert Rolls. These are quilts that will feature in our new book out next May 2013. If you’re not sure what Dessert Rolls are then these are the new Moda pre-cuts that will be hitting the UK early in the New Year (Moda are launching them at Quilt Market this right now). They are twenty strips of fabric – 5in width and cut the width of the fabric. As with jelly rolls, we at The Quilt Room also cut our 5in Strip Rolls. You can just see three of the quilts behind Pam in the picture below. Pam at Malvern We also have been busy demonstrating the Creative Grids rulers- the Double-Strip Kaleidoscope Ruler and the 2 Peaks in 1 Triangle Ruler that go hand in hand with our two new Pattern Books. We have decided that we need a bit more of a ‘demo’ station so Pam’s husband, Nick, has been given his building order so maybe (just maybe) it’ll be ready for next week at Duxford! Pam demonstrating at Malvern. Now – if you attended any of the shows or are visiting us at Duxford did you remember to print off your discount voucher? It’s well worth it as you get a great BIG 10% off any purchase with us. We also have a great free competition which can win a jelly roll. All you need to do is put down your email address and you’ll get added to the prize draw. We will announce all the winners after the last show next week so keep checking the blog!
