♥ ♥ This course is suitable if you are familiar with basic techniques and terminology.

This is a two year course over six terms. The cost is £200 per term. To book this course please call our shop on 01306 877307.

1st Term: Thursdays, 22nd January, 12th February, 26th March 2015. 2nd Term: Thursdays, 30th April, 11th June, 9th July 2015. 3rd Term: Thursdays, 24th September, 15th October, 19th November 2015. Dates for 2016 will be arranged during the year.

If you already have some knowledge and experience of patchwork, quilting and appliqué, you may wish to study the craft in greater depth. During the course you will build on the skills you already have. The design unit will include exploration of colour, line, texture, shape and form and all design work must be original. The patchwork, quilting and appliqué techniques will also be studied in more depth and as a result you will produce five original items for assessment together with a substantial portfolio of samples, as well as a folder of work that will include contextual influences and records of visits to quilt shows, exhibitions, museums and such like.

Your work will be assessed by the tutor at regular intervals throughout the course. In addition, a minimum of one project and sampling of work from the Design Unit will be assessed by an internal verifier each year to check that these activities are recorded properly by the tutor according to national regulations.

On successful completion of all units, your work will then be assessed by an external verifier. Following agreement by the external verifier that all work is complete and to the required standard, you will be awarded your qualification and certificates will be issued by City & Guilds.

There is also an initial City & Guilds registration fee of £85 payable on the first day to the tutor.
