We are sorry it is not possible to book online in view of the changing availability status of each class. Please telephone the shop on 01306 877307 for availability and bookings.

Alternatively please send your workshop fee (payable to The Quilt Room) to: The Quilt Room, 37/39 High Street, Dorking, Surrey, RH4 1AR with your name, address and contact telephone number. In the event of a workshop being full, we will refund your money. Your name will be placed on a Waiting List and we will contact you in the event of a cancellation. If you wish to cancel a workshop you will be entitled to a refund (less £2.50 administration charge per workshop cancelled) ONLY if we receive 14 days notice or more.

We just can't keep up with the number of people wanting to start patchwork and quilting so we are again running a Friday class. Liz has made a new quilt for her beginners this year so if you have been before and want to refresh your ideas she would love to see you.

You will be making a quilt measuring 56in x 56in (this can be made larger if you wish). You will be learning all the techniques required to make this quilt from start to finish. At the end of the six classes you will have a completely finished quilt. Machine work.

Wednesdays, 25th January, 8th & 29th February, 14th & 28th March, 25th April 2012- Tutor: Carolyn Forster

Six full days. Learn all the basics along with hints and tips to get your patchwork and quilting off to a flying start. Using the classic Saw Tooth Star block and its many variations we make a traditional patchwork quilt and get to grips with hand quilting and binding to finish. A beginners' class, or for those with some experience who want to consolidate the basics. Hand and machine work.

Every week you will learn a different technique of patchwork and quilting so at the end of six weeks not only will you have learned all the technical skills you need but you will have a beautiful patchwork quilt to impress friends and family. Piecing, machine appliqué, foundation piecing are some of the techniques you will be learning.

Try this fun and easy variation on a Double Wedding Ring quilt. Each ring makes up quickly using basic rotary cutting, fusible appliqué block construction, and simple machine appliqué techniques. You can make just a few rings for a small wall hanging or carry on for a larger quilt. This workshop is suitable for beginners, who are comfortable with their sewing machine. Machine work.

Sharon will take you through it step by step and you will leave the workshop with your quilt top virtually finished. You will just have the hand sewing of the appliqué handles to complete. If you would like to make your first quilt, this would be a good workshop for you - learn the skills of rotary cutting, simple piecing and machine sewing. You will be making a small quilt with four blocks and you will learn to set it on point. You might finish it during the day or at the very least you will be virtually there and feeling confidence to finish it at home. Now is the time to get started. Machine work.

The borders and binding add the finishing touches to a quilt. Using seminole techniques you will learn to create interesting pieced borders to add to any quilt. These techniques are ideal for a medallion quilt design, but can equally be added to other designs. You will also learn to make continuous bias and straight binding and a technique that means your binding will fit perfectly every time! Rotary cutting and machine piecing.

Saturday, 23rd June 2012 - Tutor: Sandie Lush

Sandie's quilts win prizes everywhere and we are always asked to get her in - so here she is - come and learn from the expert. This workshop has been designed primarily with beginners in mind. Come and learn the basics of hand quilting whilst making an elegant cushion. Basic quilting design, choice of threads and wadding will also be covered in the class. The experienced quilter can try their hand at designing a cot quilt whilst the beginners sew. Hand work.

Requirements Discount: When you are sent your Requirements List, you will see that you will be entitled to 10% discount on all purchases required for the class. Please note our Loyalty Logo stamps cannot be issued in conjunction with your 10% discount for class purchases.

Time and Place: All classes commence at 10.00 a.m. and end at 3.30 p.m. (unless otherwise stated) and are held at 37a High Street, Dorking. You will be able to drop your sewing machine off at the shop before parking if you wish and if you need any further help or information please contact us on 01306 877307.

Coffee will be served from 9.30 a.m. onwards until the class commences. Please note that workshops do not include lunches. However, there are lots of places that you can buy lunch or bring your own.

The workshop fee does not include materials, unless otherwise stated. Classes are limited to either 8 or 10 people depending on the space required for that workshop.

Cancellations: Payment will be taken for the Workshop when you make your booking to ensure your place on the class. A refund will only be given if 14 days' notice of cancellation is received (less £2.50 administration costs for each Workshop cancelled). If there is not sufficient support for any workshop and the workshop has to be cancelled, this will be done seven days before the date of the workshop. A full refund will of course be given.

Waiting List: If the workshop is full we will refund your money. Your name will be placed on a Waiting List and we will contact you in the event of a cancellation.

Samples: Although we endeavour to have samples of as many classes as possible on display in the shop, we don’t have samples of every class. If planning a special trip to see a sample, please telephone the shop in advance to check. We do have pictures of many of the samples up on our website.
